Although my professional background lies in computer science, photography has always been the true constant in my life — a medium through which I explore, interpret, and respond
to the world around me.
My photographic journey began at the age of twelve with a Kodak Instamatic.
The foundations of this lifelong passion were laid within my family: my aunt Teresa introduced me to the technical and expressive depth of the medium through the writings of Andreas Feininger, while my uncle Alberto, a lithography entrepreneur,
encouraged my first serious steps.
At sixteen, I received an Olympus OM-1 and a 50mm lens.
Then photography became part of who I am.
I completed a course in Professional Photography at the New York Institute of Photography (NYIP) and launched The Pure Image as both a brand and an online platform. Initially focused on stock photography, this experience helped shape my visual language and refined
my understanding of the image as a communicative tool.
I earned a 1st Class BA (Hons) in Photography from the Open College of the Arts (OCA),
The Open University (OU), UK. During this academic journey, I developed a more conscious
and authorial practice, culminating in the publication of my first book, Nocturnus Genius —
a psychogeographic nocturnal exploration of Venice.
Over time, I’ve also rethought the idea of photographic mentorship. In an era where everyone is a photographer, thanks to smartphones and instant sharing, many people still seek meaningful feedback. What they often need isn’t just a compliment or technical advice,
but a deeper understanding of why a photograph works, and how to reproduce that result intentionally.
That’s where I can help — by offering guidance rooted in experience, reflection,
and the craft of visual storytelling.
